Practice Policies
Appointments & Cancellations
Appointments must be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a late cancellation fee, which is the full cost of the session.
Communication
Dr. Volkert’s office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Clinical questions or concerns should be addressed during scheduled appointments. All non-urgent communication should be sent through the patient health portal. Messages will typically be answered within 2 business days. Messages sent outside of office hours are unlikely to be seen until the next business day. In case of emergencies, call 911, 988, or go to your nearest emergency room.
Medication Refills
Medication refills are provided during appointments. If you run out between visits, please request a refill at least 3 business days in advance.
Refills will not be provided for patients who have not been seen within the recommended follow-up timeframe. For controlled substances, early request for refills will not be processed.
Payment
This is a private pay practice. Dr. Volkert is not in network with any insurance and does not interact directly with insurance companies on your behalf. Full payment is due at the time of service. A credit card is required to be kept on file at the time of establishing care. The card on file will be charged at the close of the clinical encounter. Documentation can be provided upon request for out-of-network reimbursement; any reimbursement is determined by your agreement with your insurance. Accepted forms of payment include credit card, cash, check, and HSA/FSA.
Confidentiality
All communication and treatment are confidential, with exceptions only as required by law (such as risk of harm to self or others and child abuse reporting).
Telepsychiatry
Telehealth appointments are available via a secure HIPAA-compliant platform. Patients must be physically located in the state of Pennsylvania at the time of the appointment.
